More About Us

Over the past years we have given our best to ensure that we deliver quality work so that all our students benefit from every lesson they attend. We have organized concerts, ranging from small gatherings of different groups; year-end concerts with all students; collaborated performances with other teachers & their students, to string ensembles performing at the Esplanade. We will continue to create more opportunities & platforms for students to widen their learning & performing experiences.

We are proud to announce that our students have performed well in their exams, music auditions, competitions  & their CCAs over the past years. Many have made their way to a higher level in their musical journey. Many have been selected to join the distinguished youth  orchestra, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO). Some have attained scholarships to overseas music colleges. Others have simply decided to just enjoy music at their own pace & leisure.

Beginner Violin Lessons (Group)

The Learning dynamic for a student will be different in groups than it would when they are on their own. The positive peer learning will assist them in boosting their music skills in a cooperative manner, whilst still giving them the opportunity to find what works for themselves. Learning from peers allows improvements in creativity but also an increase in quality as members in the group share
their own tips and tricks for what has worked for them  - this is usually adopted and customised by the individual member and opens up new avenues to improve their techniques, performance and musicianship in general.

Fidelio's Young Talent Programme

Fidelio's Young Talent Programme is tailored for young beginners on the violin, with just a small number of 3 or 4 students. It focuses on the performing element, bringing fun and excitement on a different platform. In the last lesson of every month, these students will perform to showcase what they have achieved.

Matthias is an accomplished violinist and violist with extensive performance experience across prominent orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Asia and Europe. Known for his technical mastery, expressive musicianship, and collaborative approach, Matthias has distinguished himself as a versatile and committed artist in symphonic, operatic, and chamber music settings.

Currently, Matthias performs as violist (Principal/Section) with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra Singapore. In addition, he serves as Principal Violist with the Asian Symphony Orchestra and Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, where his collaborative leadership has elevated performances in both classical and culturally significant repertoires, reflecting Singapore’s vibrant musical landscape.

His contributions to Singapore’s musical community are further highlighted by his longstanding partnership with the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, where he has performed regularly in both the violin and viola sections since 2008, supporting a wide range of operatic productions and collaborating with leading vocalists such as Katherine Jenkins, Sarah Brightman, and Russell Watson. Matthias has also served as Principal Violinist with the New Opera Orchestra in Singapore.

Chamber music remains a vital part of Matthias' musical journey. From 2019 to 2022, he was a core member of the Concordia Quartet, where they explored interdisciplinary productions that merged music with theatrical storytelling. Their collaboration with the Wild Rice Theatre in Singapore on Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest brought chamber music to new audiences, offering a unique blend of classical music with dramatic art that earned widespread acclaim.

In addition to his vibrant performance career, Matthias is a lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and an instructor at Fidelio Music Studio in Singapore. As a violin and viola instructor, he is deeply committed to developing each student’s technical skills and expressive potential. His teaching philosophy centers on nurturing each pupil according to their unique personality and abilities, allowing for a tailored and personal approach to growth. This philosophy is informed by his comprehensive education at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt, Germany, where he studied violin under Dorothee Birke and viola with Jan Nowicki. His training also included masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Michael Hahn, Prof. Rainer Hoffmann, Lavard Skou Larsen, and Prof. Valery Gradow, instilling in him a foundation that he now shares with his students through a balanced emphasis on technique, musicality, and interpretive insight.

With a career marked by adaptability across styles, artistic insight, and a commitment to collaboration, Matthias continues to be an active figure in Singapore’s classical music scene.

In 2024, he published Echoes of Home-Education Harmony, a book telling the story of his 22 years in Singapore, reflecting on his life as an educator.
